Minister of Science Dr. Sanja Damjanović took part in the 17th TIARA Collaboration Council meeting, which was held online, presenting the SEEIIST initiative as a project of pan-European Research Infrastructure.

On this occasion, Minister Damjanović, who is also the Chairperson of the SEEIIST Steering Committee, indicated that the project would soon be included in the list of European infrastructures (ESFRI Roadmap), following the submission of a 350-page application document. The document has highlighted the project’s pan-European dimension, as well as its compliance with the European Union policies: the European Green Deal and Horizon Europe Cancer Research Mission, and included a comprehensive technical application.

In addition to the constant support of the European Commission, SEEIIST has recently received the Swiss political support in terms of drafting the science diplomacy plan for the project.

“As the first green research infrastructure, SEEIIST is the only large-scale infrastructural project which is part of the Economic & Investment Plan for the Western Balkans via the Innovation Agenda, and will contribute to development and strengthening of state-of-the-art research, competitiveness and innovation in a sustainable manner in the field of science and technology in the region” Damjanović said.

The main objective of TIARA Consortium is to create a dedicated structure to exchange expertise and to facilitate and support the setting-up of joint R&D programmes and education and training activities in the field of Accelerator Science and Technology in Europe.
